In-Home Safety For Aging Loved Ones - It is important to understand how we can make aging a positive experience for our loved ones.

Our homes are places of comfort and memories but if we do not consider simple ways to making our homes easier to manuever within as we age, they can become a place where a life altering accident can occur.   1. Make sure your home is properly lighted during the night, specifically where you walk.
  2. Ensure there are bars or rails in places where it is a danger to fall. i.e. Bathrooms, Stairways.
  3. Have bed bars in place for facilitating getting out of bed. This will make the job of sitting up and getting in and out of bed easier.
  4. Ensure that all rugs are firmly in place. This will avoid any falls from slipping on loose rugs.
  5. Make sure all your heavy pots and pans are easy to reach. This enables you to conveniently reach them without straining your body.
  6. Store all cleaning supplies under counters and do mix cleaning liquids together.
  7. Remove all clutter from entrance and exits of your home. This avoids any accidents in these high traffic areas of your home.
  8. Check all expiration dates before you use. This garauntees that the food you consume will not harm you.
